Can I grow bushes from cuttings?

Last summer we cut down our extremely overgrown bushes. For the heck of it, I cut some twigs from what I think are red current bushes in another part of our yard, to see if I could root them. The clippings are growing roots in water, and I'm wondering what is the best way to plant these and grow some new bushes. Also, can you tell me what bushes or shrubs can be easily grown from cuttings?
